If you read our previous article on Spring Beauty Trends, you would have remembered that one of the biggest trends appearing are bold eyebrows. Thick, or bold, eyebrows give the face a strong appearance. To get this look, you may need to start growing your eyebrows out more which can be a slow ordeal but worth it if you want an updated style. Eyebrows help shape the rest of the face and keep an even look. The way they are styled and shaped can drastically change a look. Using eye shadows or penciled accents, your eyebrows can give the rest of your face a sophisticated essence. Finding the best shape and style for your eyebrows can take some time, here are some tips on how to make them look the best possible:
1. Stay Consistent:
Whether or not you decide you want thick eyebrows- stay consistent once the decision is made. Nothing is worse than deciding 15 minutes before you leave the house that you want thin eyebrows to then realize, after half a brow is finished, that you actually want thick brows instead. Inconsistency will only make the rest of your face seem uneven.
2. Quick Maintenance:
A great way to make your eyebrows look fresh even with little time, is to do just some quick maintenance. There are many products that hold brows in place. However if you are in a bind, try this trick. With an eyebrow comb, spray a small amount of hairspray on the brush and use an upward stroke against the brows. This will keep the hair of the eyebrows in good order as well as brush away any loose hairs.
3. Tweeze Strays:
While growing out your eyebrows, you still want them to look clean. Use tweezers to remove and stray hairs that aren’t consistent with the rest of your eyebrow shape. Use a warm washcloth and place over your eyebrows for 5 minutes before you tweeze. This will open the pores and soften the hairs to make it much easier to tweeze. Make sure that you tweeze from the root of the hair so you don’t break the hair in the middle of the shaft.
4. Where to Tweeze:
There are three areas of the brow you should tweeze: between your brows (to prevent the dreaded uni-brow), under your brow, and just a little above the brow to prevent any strays. Start at the inside corner of the eyes and move outward, avoiding tweezing your natural arch. Switch between eyes to keep an even and consistent look.
5. Exaggerate the Eye:
The main purpose to shape your eyebrows is to keep a focal point on the eyes. The best way to do this is to create a small arch in the eyebrow. The tip of the arch should be at the center of the iris. This will keep your face seeming more symmetrical than it actually might be. And, as we learned a few articles back, symmetry is very important in beauty.
6. Soothe the Skin:
When you feel your eyebrows look even, use a a cotton ball to apply either witch hazel or a very simple moisturizer around the eyebrows. It’s best to wait 10-15 minutes before applying makeup to help avoid any irritation.
The biggest objective for the eyebrow is to accent the eyes. Once you have the perfectly shaped eyebrows, you may be worried about any wrinkles or lines around the eyes. Note, if you groom a great set of eyebrows, it will draw attention to the eyes. This may make crow’s feet around the eyes look more noticeable, yet there are simple solutions to improve the overall appearance of the eyes. The best solution for this is a quick Botox procedure that can smooth out the small wrinkles that exist around the eyes. The quick procedure bears results in just 3-4 days and can last anywhere from 3-5 months. If you have great looking eyebrows but are bothered by the wrinkles they draw attention to, Botox may be for you. Remember to always consult your physician before committing to any procedure.
