Q:
Dear Dr. Dayan,
I am a 42-Year-Old single mom of 2 who is just getting back into dating. In need and want to look hot (not tired, stressed, and overwhelmed like I usually feel.) I’m really nervous that if I pay the money and drive ito Chicago for Botox, I will like it at first, but over time it may make me look worse. I can’t afford to make that kind of financial or time investment if it won’t be good in the long-run. Will my frown lines come back even worse after Botox? -Nervous in Naperville
A: This is a frequently asked question, and the answer clinically is a resounding no.
We don’t see wrinkles worsen after Botox treatments or following treatment with similar products such as Dysport or Xeomin once the products wear off. Actually, we now have fairly strong anecdotal evidence that with regular repeated treatments over time, the wrinkles seem to be much better. In fact, I can think of many people I have personally treated who had terribly deep lines in their forehead years ago, and today, they have little to no evidence of those lines, whether or not their Botox/Dysport/Xeomin has worn off. When they come in now for a treatment, because the wrinkles are not as severe, they don’t need as much Botox as they did before to get a similar reduction in the wrinkles.
So Botox/Dysport/Xeomin are suggested components to a regular regimen that will keep the forehead and eye area looking youthful and fresh for a long period of time.
