Q&A with Dr. Steven Dayan, MD
Question: “My eyes look heavy and tired, and as a result I seem older than I really am. How can I make my eyes appear more youthful?” – Judy P. from Chicago
Answer: On occasion, patients will ask about treatments for their eyes. The eyes are the first place that someone looks at when gazing upon a new face and they’re generally regarded as the most attractive feature of the face. In an attempt to make the eyes more open, more inviting and more friendly, one of the great treatments is to place a little bit of Botox or Dysport around the eyelid. When used in micro-doses between the eyebrows and underneath the eyelid itself, the eyes will actually open 1-2 millimeters. This will make the eyes appear more infantile and friendly. The procedure is very quick, taking just a few minutes to perform. You’ll notice results in 3-4 days and the effect will last up to 3 months. Some patients do not make good candidates for this, so be sure and check with your medical provider first. Yet for the vast majority of patients who want to have a more inviting look to their eyes, Botox or Dysport may be the answer.
