Can I go in the sun after botox injections & other cosmetic treatments? Understandably, many people worry about exposing their treated skin to the sun. Nobody wants to ruin his or her newly treated skin as a result of being in the sun for too long. We’ve heard these concerns and want to make sure you get the facts about going out in the sun after receiving Botox, Juvederm, and other cosmetic treatments.
What is it?
Botox is one of the most popular cosmetic treatments in the world, and for good reasons. It is an extremely safe, effective and proven method to smoothen out fine lines and wrinkles, leaving you with beautiful looking skin. How does it do this? Well, to put it simply, Botox injections limit the excessive movement of the muscles that are frequently associated with wrinkles. Botox can also be used to treat excessive sweating and chronic migraines.
Can I Go in the Sun After Botox Injections?
Many people reach out to us asking questions like “Can I go in the sun after Botox?”. Spending a normal amount of time in the sun with Botox is completely fine and harmless. However, we do suggest that you do not expose yourself to the sun on the same day as your treatment. The natural dilation of blood vessels in the skin that increase circulation can diffuse your Botox quicker than you would want it to. With or without treatment, try to limit your time in the sun and always apply sunscreen.
Restylane
What is it?
If you want natural-looking wrinkle and lip fillers that are long lasting, Restylane is one of the greatest options out there. It is the first stabilized hyaluronic acid filler on the market. What does that mean? Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance found in all species that is highly attracted to water, and has an ability to bind to it. In this way, it fills the wrinkles or lips by attracting water to the site. This allows for a soft, supple correction that looks extremely natural. Restylane is usually used for plumping lips and minimizing unwanted wrinkles.
Can I go in the sun after I receive Restylane treatment?
Spending time in the sun after receiving Restylane treatment should not lead to any complications. In rare cases, discoloration in the area of the skin that the filler was injected to may appear after too much sun exposure. But once again, this is very rare. As with any treatment, limit your time in the sun and put on sunscreen.
Juvederm
What is it?
Like Restylane, Juvederm is another injectable filler that utilizes hyaluronic acid to improve the appearance of deep facial wrinkles, folds, lines and acne scars. It is also commonly used to enhance the lips and contour facial features, such as the chin and cheeks. The results are extremely natural and long-lasting.
Can I go in the sun after I receive Juvederm treatment?
Spending time in the sun should cause no problems after you have received Juvederm. After the first day of treatment, you can return to your normal routine without worrying about sun exposure.
With or without treatment, we suggest that you do not spend extended periods of time in the sun, as the sun is one of the main causes of photoaging and skin cancer. Try to keep out of the sun as much as possible between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., when the sun is strongest. Also, make sure to put on sunscreen any time you are out in the sun.
As you can see, these cosmetic treatments should cause no major change in your daily routine when it comes to sun exposure. As long as you are smart about your time in the sun, you should have lasting and healthy skin.
