Though you might eventually outgrow your troubled skin, or finally learn how to keep it under control, lifelong scars can remind you, and others of your acne. Unfortunately, it is more difficult to get rid of scars than it is pimples. There are, however, several non-surgical treatments that may help to drastically improve the appearance of your acne scars, depending on their color, size, depth and texture. We here at Dr. Dayan’s Scarless Center don’t want you to live with these scars forever. We are here to provide you with the information on how to get rid of signs of acne.
Non-Surgical Acne Scar Treatments
Injection Therapy
If your acne scar is raised or sunken into the skin, Dr. Dayan’s exclusive injection therapy may be the best treatment for you. This unique blend uses a combination of Botox, K10 and 5FU mixed together in a defined ratio. About each month, the mixture is placed into the scar in serial treatments. Usually, you only need to receive three treatments for prolonged dormancy.
Laser Treatments
Laser therapy uses a single beam of focused light to precisely correct many different kinds of skin problems. Depending on your skin and scar type, Dr. Dayan’s practice uses Total FX, Active FX or Pixel Laser Therapy. Total FX utilizes both Active FX and Deep FX treatments to eliminate moderate to deep scars.
If your scars are closer to the surface of your skin, you might only need Active FX. While Deep FX goes deeper into the skin to correct more prominent scars, Active FX can treat spots or scars close to the surface of the skin covering a large area. Its high-energy beam of laser light causes the upper layer to peel off and regenerate a layer of new, healthy skin.
Intense Pulsated Light (IPL) Treatments
IPL is one of the most popular treatments available today because it is quick and requires little to no downtime and does a variety of things. IPL is used to rejuvenate the skin by stimulating new collagen growth, increasing skin elasticity and lessening the appearance of unwanted skin irregularities, such as acne scars.
This technology is incredibly precise, as it’s only able to target the irregularities of the skin. As a result, the surrounding skin remains unaffected and unharmed. Usually, 4 to 6 treatments are necessary for the best results, but it does depend on your needs. During treatment, an intense flash of light passes through the top layer of your skin and penetrates the deeper layer, where your collagen is found.
Microneedling Skin Therapy
For the shortest recovery time possible, Dermapen is one of the best options. It is used to improve acne scars and also better the overall tone and texture of the skin by stimulating new collagen growth. The treatment only usually takes 20 to 30 minutes, and patients can usually return to work within 24 to 48 hours. A series of treatments is recommended (min 4/6) spaced apart by four week intervals.
We don’t want you living with your acne forever. To learn if your scar is treatable, we recommend that you schedule a consultation with a scar treatment center. For more about scarring and scar removal, visit our Scarless Center.
