Q: Hi Michelle,
I live in Evanston, and I’m really looking forward to all of the upcoming Thanksgiving gathering and holiday parties. (We always throw a holiday party for our friends around the neighborhood.) I’m unsure whether my Botox results will last long enough through both holidays. I got my last Botox treatment 2 months ago, and I’m not sure I really want to drive downtown more than once during the busy holiday season. How long does Botox last? Do Dysport and Xeomin last longer or less time?
Sincerely, Getting Well Seasoned
A:
Dear Getting Well Seasoned,
While every patient is different, Botox has been shown to have visible results for up to four months. Lifestyle (including diet and exercise), genetics, and how many times the patient has been treated with Botox can all affect the length of time the product will last. Botox is never permanent, but with repeated treatments, long-term results have been reported. Similarly, Dysport and Xeomin have been reported to last up to 4 months, with some patients maintaining effects for a longer or shorter length of time.
