Dermal Fillers for Fullness
Nowadays, most dermal fillers used in lip enhancement procedures are made out of hyaluronic acid.
The effects of hyaluronic injections are long lasting, often lasting for up to six months or more.
How Is Lip Enhancement Performed?
Lip enhancement is a fairly simple procedure that can be done in 5 to 10 minutes. The first step in the procedure is to clean around the lips with a mild antibacterial solution in order to prepare the lips for the injections.
Most of the hyaluronic fillers used for this include lidocaine as an ingredient. Lidocaine is a medication that is used to reduce mild pain decreasing uncomfortable sensations during the procedure.
The patient’s lips are then carefully marked for precise locations where the lip filler will be injected. Very tiny and fine blunt tip catheters are used for this purpose. After the dermal filler is injected, we place an ice pack on the lips in order to even further lessen swelling and any discomfort. Once the lipshave settled, their appearance will be greatly improved. It takes about two to three days for settling to occur, although the results will be visible immediately.
